You saw this coming right?
The Metal Gear Solid 4 25th Anniversary Edition appeared in the inventory system of two game retailers — Zavvi and ShopTo — from the UK. Shortly after it was posted on the two game retailer’s sites, Eurogamer reported the sighting.
Without the current sale price, Zavvi and ShopTo listed the anniversary edition at £19.99 (or roughly $31.93 U.S. dollars).
However, Konami has not officially announced the publishing of the game, which is expected to release later this year only on the Playstation 3.
Other than the sighting of the game’s existence, there is not information on what the anniversary edition will contain. It’s difficult to say since Metal Gear Solid 4 didn’t have any DLC for single-player nor multiplayer.
Now, you’re probably wondering why a four-year-old game is getting a 25th anniversary?
While I’m not sure why Konami specifically chose Metal Gear Solid 4, July 7th, 2012 marked the 25th anniversary of the original “Metal Gear” on the MSX2 in Japan. Since “Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots” is the game that ties the Metal Gear universe together and ends the story of Solid Snake, perhaps this is why they chose the game to get the anniversary treatment?
It’s hard to say, but when we find out we’ll let you all know.
