Trinity of Sin: Pandora #1
Art by: Daniel Sampere and Vicente Cifuentes
A decent set up to what is to be the Trinity War. Ray Fawkes made a believable story out of Pandora as one who exists in a world full of superheroes. Something not too easy when dealing with stories of myth, but Fawkes handled it well enough to give you a reason to care about her character and of course make the situation that she finds herself in clear.
The story did fall flat as we went through her life up to now. That much is the only problem I found with this issue because I constantly found myself wanting to skip straight to current time or past her narration of her past. It’s not that it wasn’t interesting, but knowing who Pandora is already before getting into the story kinds feels like it’s rehashed though unique to the DC Universe. Besides this, it did pick up which was what I feared would not happen being sort of her origins story.
In the end it was a solid issue that to say the least shows potential for the rest of the books progression. If the main point of this was to show her importance then it was achieved because the ending alone let us know to an extent what we should expect to come and how it will affect the war as a whole. The duo of Daniel Sampere and Vicente Cifuentes made the art style of this book unique to the tone it has set. You felt that time was changing and the detail put into it stood out.
