The developer behind the highly regarded Witcher franchise says that even if the next generation hardware brings a lot of new stuff, the team won’t waste its time if these new additions don’t bring meaningful changes to the core game mechanics.
When asked about a possible integration of DualShock 4’s Touchpad in his upcoming The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Senior Level Designer Peter Gelencser stated the following:
I think a lot of things like that are being considered. I mean, we’re experimenting a lot of things, because with the new hardware, the next gen consoles are offering a lot of things which we are very happy about because of the possibilities.
But again, story first, game first. We’re not going to waste our time into something that does not serve the purpose of the story and your experience.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is scheduled for pursuit in the Spring of 2014, on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
